DIY bug spray

No stagnant water? βœ…

Generally clean surroundings? βœ…

But maaany ants and mosquitoes? βœ…

Here’s a recipe for an all-natural anti-mosquito, anti-ant spray (thank you, ChatGPT)!

Ingredients:

 β€’ 100 ml water

β€’ 100 ml white vinegar or apple cider vinegar

β€’ 3 bay leaves, crushed or torn into smaller pieces

 β€’ 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

 β€’ 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

β€’ 2 cloves of garlic, peeled and crushed (optional)

β€’ A few drops of vanilla extract (optional)

DIY bug spray made with kitchen staples

Instructions:

 1. Prepare the Mixture: In a bowl or container, mix 100 ml of water with 100 ml of vinegar. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon each of ground cloves and ground cinnamon. Add the crushed bay leaves and crushed garlic if using. Add vanilla extract if desired.

 2. Mix Well: Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients.

 3. Boil for Steam (Optional): If you want to use steam, pour the mixture into a small pot and bring it to a boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer. This step is optional if you only want to use it as a spray.

 4. Transfer to Spray Bottle: If you simmered the mixture, let it cool before transferring it to the 100 ml spray bottle. If you didn’t simmer, just pour the mixture directly into the spray bottle.

Usage:

β€’ For Air: Shake well before each use. Spray into the air around the areas you want to protect from mosquitoes.

β€’ For Surfaces: You can also lightly spray around entry points and surfaces.

This recipe will fit perfectly in two (2) 100 ml spray bottles. Let me know if it works for you! ☺️

Bread with Cheese

What’s your favorite thing to cook?

Thanks for this prompt, WordPress!

I’m happy to cook this cheesy version of the classic French toast anytime my toddler asks for it. He calls it bread-with-cheese.

Materials:

  • 1 fresh egg
  • your preferred milk (I use condensed milk for a little sweetness)
  • 4 slices of bread, sides removed
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • cheese
  • fork or whisk
  • mixing bowl
  • cheese grater

Here are the steps I follow with my toddler:

1. Prepare the materials.

2. Crack the egg open in the bowl. Put the egg shells aside.

3. Add milk to the egg. Stir or whisk.

4. Place the pan on the stove.

5. Ask a grown-up to switch the stove ON to medium heat.Melt the butter in the pan.

6. Dip the bread slice in the bowl. Don’t soak it too much.

7. Ask a grown-up to put the wet slice onto the heated pan. When the slice turns brown, turn it over.

8. Grate some cheese over half of the slice. Fold in the middle.

9. Press the bread. Turn it over. Wait for 2 more minutes. Serve and enjoy!

Cheese me. 😘
