reframing

fleeting… everything is fleeting

and all we have are but moments, embers or ashes of what was

yet as heavy as departure seems
we can either wallow in grief over what was

or choose to be grateful for what we
have been given

no matter how little

no matter how minuscule those moments were

we can choose

to be grateful

for those moments

when we shared a piece of us
and made peace with our uniqueness and differences

every ending doesn’t have to be
a bitter pill in the mouth

it can be sweet

when we choose

to make every moment
to give freely, truthfully, of ourselves
to another

no matter who

or what

or where

or why

we just be.
